Exit Wounds by Rutu Modan is one of the most compelling graphic novels I’ve ever read. The line work is simple, yet the story is intriguing. I highly recommend adding Exit Wounds to your comic book library.
I had the opportunity to interview Dame Darcy for my magazine a few months ago, and I found her to be an extremely passionate and talented artist. Author of Meatcake, doll maker, musician and actress, her work combines a mix of goth, fantasy and, in her own words, “hillbilly rococo”. I think she’s amazing.
My name is Yasmine and I am a designer and illustrator based in the Bay Area. Aside from drawing a whole lot, making magazines and mini comics and sewing random things, I like to read a lot of comics, both mainstream and obscure.
And I’d like to start this series of comic-related posts with one of my favourite comic inkers and draftsmen, Philippine-based Gerry Alanguilan. His technique is amazing and so detailed.
